Author Entitlement

Our written works are remarkably important to us as writers. They are, speaking metaphorically, our children. We love them, we care for them, we defend them, we send them off into the world hoping they are ready and, when we have to, we aren't afraid to kill them. I understand that. I think sour grapes has a lot to do with it, too. They have to find some say to validate their own lack of talent/success so obviously they strike out at everyone else rather than taking a long hard look at their own level of professionalism -- or lack thereof.
