Aww, don't worry about it Flo. Hey, if you do take a year off, you can get a part-time job (if art doesn't consume your life) and make some money, and visit people. Like go to Davis an' save me from the infinite boredom which is the "davis downtown" (ahahahahah there seriously is no downtown, it's a lie, a lie I tell you!) Then I'll hide you in my dorm heheheheh^^
People are starting to take a year off and travel the world/get a job/become more cultured/used to real life or whatever... but that's in Europe. :D... but if you read the comics the Doonesbury one talks about a girl who wants to take a couple of years off before she goes to college...so maybe it's not so rare in america. just in our asian rings.
I'm sure you can. Speak to the admissions officers about it--you can probably contact them through email at the UCSD website. They'll be able to tell you whether or not that's possible, and I believe the UC system does allow deferred admissions.
Besides, they should be all done with the acceptance process, so maybe the'll be less grumpy! ;D
Housing will be a major problem for you--it is going to be very difficult to find anything good. I spoke to Dan a little about that...
But no, I think you have a right to be angry about it. :[ If anyone has the right to whine when they're upset about something, it's you.
hello darling! i've actually thought about taking a year off between high school and college. a lot of people do it so don't worry at all! it actually betters your chances of getting into a good college since you have experience and it shows you're still interested. keep your head up! if you do take winter in ucsd i'm sure it won't be totally bad. you won't get the full freshman experience, but from people i've heard who've done the winter semester, it's just the same, and they're well integrated in no time. good luck!
*huuuug* agreed with what the others said. Talk to the SD people, I'm sure they won't mind. :O And taking a year off sounds like a pretty good idea to me actually! You could just reapply to the schools you really want. :3 Sides, remember- colleges don't judge people's ages.
