Why is it though after only a few days of no pickup that the city is falling into ruin?
What the hell Toronto?
I've missed garbage day plenty of times. Heck, I've even missed it a couple of times in a row. It meant I had a few bags around. Sometimes meant I had to double or even triple bag stuff. But it never got nasty like that.
As far as unions go, I'm not against them. But when you take a logical look at the cost for the services rendered, it just doesn't make sense for the city anymore. There's just too much stuff that needs to get done, and only so much money to do it with.
This whole pay-it-forward idea that highly paid civil servants put that money back into the city and therefore everyone wins is a weak argument and doesn't change the fact that the city just can't afford it.
Good service does cost. But in a city filled with so many people more than willing to work hard for a good job, it just makes so much more sense to contract these services out.
