I paid $40 for a hardcover copy of a Fallout 3 GOTY Edition guide book, and I never regretted it. It's glorious in every conceivable fashion.

I remember when I was little and basking in the glory of my new Earthbound player's guide, it inspired me to start working on my own strategy game for my imaginary game. I drew everything out and even had all the stats for the monsters and characters figured out, heh. So yeah I love guides too :)
