The tailored accomplishments

Jan 20, 2014 01:09

In the recent adult years I have noticed one amazing quality of my brain. It is highly socially trained to come up with an answer custom made to the person it is talking to. Especially when asked about how I am doing in life, or what is 'new'? Half of my brain has already run it's algorithm to understand what this person thinks as achievements in ( Read more... )

One advantage of entering your 30s is to stop bothering about other people's expectations of what your life should be.

So, the next time someone asks "whats new" go on and tell whats actually new and interesting for you

Though when giving a reaction to their news you can still switch on the other part of your brain :P ;)

Lol, it amazes me of what is rated a accomplishments in life. And not bothering has nothing to do with age :) Just the frame of mind. You are thinking too much about it now ;)

With friends at a very basic level, when we hear about something exciting in their lives, its more on the lines of "it makes me happy/excited that you are so happy/excited... ", irrespective of the magnitude of the achievement - perceived or otherwise. If the area of accomplishment happens to overlap with your interests then its just an excuse to annoy the shit out of everyone else around you with the tedious exaggerations that only the two of you share/understand ... :P:P (..jk .. you get the drift..) So we are naturally lead to believe that we are more happier in a group. But then, there is the anomaly ( ... )

Do they really think that is the "Yes, I did it moment", I sometimes think a few people I know are capable of something else but just are led to believe in another event as the "yaay" moment. Anyway, there have been times when my half drugged brain that was not reacting needed a jump start :)

But yes, we are humans, we see the world through our eyes and our brains, each to our own. So I have accepted that I will be weighed across the "social achievements". But somehow never makes sense in the world in my head.

Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men is new :) It makes me feel like I am gliding through Icelandic roads thanks to Walter Mitty!

So well written!
May be your next milestone should be to train your 'socially compliant' half of the brain to just Shush! Its an ideal world when Swe can be her whole self ALL the time!
Its my dream for me! I'd toast to that!

How have you been dear... Just came across ur posts, this made a remarkable thought in me. Beautifully worded and precisely given. This quality does pop up in my brain too and I tell myself whatever and carry on, sometimes hard to believe what I said...

Thankyou Reshmi. This seems so long ago, the post. I am well. I hope you are too.
Thanks, your one off comment on Livejournal reminds me that I should still try writing.
