Oh. My. That was EXCELLENT... just EXCELLENT!!! What a way to suck Sesshoumaru into a declaration and, at the same time, give Kagome a weapon that will truly be worthy of her and her place in his life.

S-u-r-e it's business... uh huh. Right. *snicker* Wonderful treatment of the prompt and a terrific addition to the collection. VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Hehe, I had a few different scenarios with Totosai playing out in my mind, as I couldn't decide which end of the commissioning I wanted to show, but I think this worked out the best.

And, well, Totosai is a trip, LOL :P He knows how to irritate and compel like no other!

I already have ideas for the next couple of 'chapters' of this fic, so *crosses fingers* Hopefully the muses will cooperate! I'm itching for a good battle to really blow things open between these two :D

Wonderful continuation of Allegiance. I like Totosai pushing him to admit
how he feels about Kagome and trying to get him to find someone to protect.
Totosai wonders if Sesshoumaru should not put more of himself into the weapon
Still a formidable weapon.

Well, who else would be able to run their mouth off to Sesshoumaru and not find death as their reward? LOL. And, well, Totosai always has to get his say in, when he's commissioned to forge a weapon for either one of the brothers.

The problem I faced when I came up with this brilliant little scheme was the fact that, in the manga, whoever it was always seemed to give up their teeth to be made into the sword...and, well, Sesshoumaru isn't quite to that point. So then it became a matter of justifying how/why Totosai was able to use what he was given. Here's hoping it works *crosses fingers*

Still a formidable weapon.

Or so they think...

I love Totosai - I don't know how he's lived so long, what with how he pisses off all the most powerful demons, but that's what makes him so awesome.

Fabulous chapter. I'm interested in that weapon - stone is an odd choice when you have the master of Japanese steel to do your work. Even so, I appreciate it for making Sesshoumaru's emotions show a bit. ;)

He is a crazy old bastard, isn't he? LOL, it was fun to have a character who wasn't trembling in fear of (or half in love with) Sesshoumaru for a change. This is actually a little side-trip away from the story arc that popped into my head a few weeks ago, but I think its going to work out even better in the end...even if we have to wait a couple of chapters to see some real action!

stone is an odd choice when you have the master of Japanese steel to do your work.Well, in the manga at least, it seems like the youkai swordsmiths always use some sort of living tissue (usually teeth) to forge their swords. I had this brilliant idea for Sesshoumaru to forge a weapon for Kagome, but I didn't quite feel like he was at a point where he was willing to give up a part of himself for that. So instead, he gives Totosai a stone arrowhead to work with. It's like - he's trying to do the right ( ... )

The anime made him into a crazy old coot. In the manga he is the master of the swords. He shows up when the swords call him. He warns IY that if Tessaiga dies part of him will die too. He knew when Tenseiga felt Sesshoumaru had learned compassion. He knew what was necessary to help IY grow up by fighting Ryuukotsusei. He knew when Tenseiga and Tessaiga would merge. He knew how that Tenseiga led IY out of the Meidou. He knew that Bakusaiga had been formed and he knew why Tessaiga had cut off Sesshoumaru's arm in the first place.

I still do not believe that he had the nerve to lie to Sesshoumaru after discovering that Sesshoumaru had talked to Shishinki and blew away half his house.

Eh, even in the manga, he has a mouth on him. That's the characteristic I wanted to use here. When we first meet him, he seems to fear Sesshoumaru (running from him instead of completing his commission), but as the story goes on, he's one of the few who bothers to speak to him at his own level.

His great ability to craft swords was what led him to be able to forge a weapon from stone instead of some (formerly) living, breathing tissue. I just winged it here, but before I "officially" post this to the collection, I will actually do a bit more research and see if I can't turn up some authentic materials for the finished product (I don't want KK correcting me because I was too lazy to look, LOL!!).

Excellent use of Totosai! I like when he is portrayed as the tricky master, not just the bumbling octogenarian.

Well, he has to have some tricks up his sleeve, to make it as long as he has, considering his clientele... :P
