Ok-let me be clear here. Cutesy formatting pisses off editors. It gets you rejected. I had 1 today where the protag's 1st wife was dying-her voice trailed away & the font decreased in size. That alone was enough for me to hate it.
Wow! I have never seen anything like that in my editing gigs, but then I've not had the pleasure of editing fiction. That does sound rather hateful... though still quite amusing. :)
