I have a sleeping bag and a ground pad you can use, I'll track them down for you. When I was backpacking, we'd make things like boxed mac and cheese, black bean, rice and cheese burritos, ramen (you can cook veggies or other things in the water before adding the noodles). Not gourmet by any means, but hearty and filling after a long day of hiking. Or building a kickass house. If you have a stove and a pot/pan, you can make all kinds of stuff with a campfire stove, you're creative and pretty damn good at the cooking thing, I'm sure you'll be fine. Toss a little bottle of Campsuds in your luggage (it's less than $5) for cleaning; it's environmentally friendly, super concentrated, and really versatile.

Airfare Watchdog just sent me a fare today for LAX to Heathrow for $705, which is still a lot, but the cheapest I've seen in a couple of months.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help-- I wish I could join you!

You're so sweet! Love you!

Wow, I didn't realize you were actually going to go. That's awesome!!! I'm sure you can use our 3-4 season tent. It should be pretty roomy for just you. Isis also has lots of tasty backpacking recipes that we use for the Grand Canyon. And they're pretty easy.

Also, if you need a backpack to use, we have two that might work for you. I'm very excited to hear about these houses. My fingers are crossed that everything falls into place perfectly.

YAY!!
