Have made a hard choice. I would rathe let py live on painkillers fora few months than put him through the torture of cancer therapies for the next year. I will let him die.

Insert hours of racking sobs here.

Who knows... He might surprise us all and last longer on his own.

The grievingprocess has begun already. This is very hard. I have had him ( Read more... )

Don't think of it as letting him die, think of it as being kind enough to give him the best quality of life you can with what he has left. Think of it as being kind enough to keep him from suffering as much as you can, rather than spending tons to put him thru the great discomfort of chemo for the selfishness of keeping him alive maybe another year. Chemo is not fun for pets, and it doesnt seem to buy very much more time from what I have seen. There are still some vets who do housecalls for euthanasia, I'm sure you could find some reviews on yelp. As far as cremation, I don't know where you could have a bonfire, but I do know Cal Pet crematory will let you bring your pet in yourself when they pass, and you can even wait while they do. The doctor I worked for in La Crescenta took their dog right after putting her down, and waited for her remains. Enjoy the time you have left with him, and keep him as comfortable as possible. Pets are pretty good about letting you know when they're ready for you to let them go. Euthanasia is a kindness ( ... )

Ivan had a house call when the time came for Wrx. I could inquire if you'd like.

I'm so so so sorry...

At least in Virginia there were a number of vets that would offer house calls to perform euthanasia. You can probably contact a few places in your area and they would be able to let you know if they did that and what other vets in the area would.

*hugs* I'm very sorry that this is happening.
