Very old fashioned; about 500 years old ;-) Makes the page look like it's been rained on.

I typed that thing out, rainy page and all, and passed it back to my manager, by the way. Thanks for your help :-)

Overhearing a conversation about comma's in the office worried me slightly... I;m not on LJ *that* much...
And are we no longer supposed to put comma's wherever there is a natural break in the flow? Eep!

Nope. Commas-as-breath-marks died out a few hundred years ago. That use is purely stylistic, now. I also challenge your use of an apostrophe to pluralise comma (so *thrrrrrbbb*)...
