Doctors, Nurses, radiographers, scientists, technicians are all very important in the NHS, but so are the admin and clerical people. Most of us A&C people work our arses off (and many of us work overtime and do not get paid for it). Without us, the NHS will crumble-staff would not get paid, patient-facing staff have to waste valuable time doing ( Read more... )

I get similarly annoyed when people dismiss the A&C people generally. The analogy I've always used is that, yes, Doctors/Nurses/CEOs etc are brain/eyes/ears/hands of an organisation whereas the admin & clerical/facilities people are the central nervous system. Now how much could anyone do without their central nervous system?

Nobody would notice - until they wanted something done URGENTLY!!! or something went wrong. Either that, or we went on strike towards the end of the month. Once we'd had our payroll sorted but nobody elses.

You should get a "I was brave at the hospital today" badge. Yup.
Although, hmm... those things can seem like adverts for "Hey, I'm still high". So maybe not.

Can I add you gopher_that February 27 2006, 20:29:21 UTC
Oh can I add you. Its been years, assuming that is I have not taken a guess on who you are from a mutual friends live journal and got it wrong as I lost contact with you and other people who were my closest friends at that time. That was all around the time I was comming out and was a little stressed about stuff (other than money). So I now have no idea if it is appropiate to out of the blue add you. Oh and the mad ranting is not the norm (except about managment and especially directors from time to time Grrrrr). Things are more or less back to where they were before so I would like to keep in contact with lost older friends.

Finally got my both my MA and My MSc at last so now trying to find what to do with my life. So now a History garduate too :)
