I didn't know it was possible to get cable for 4 months. Can't he just get some rabbit ears for the brief time he is there?

Your blanket will be done by this weekend! It's a bit thick, since it is essentially two afghans sewn together. I hope that's not a problem.

No, you can't get cable or the dish for four months. You have to get either for a year. But that would never stop my father.
Really looking forward to the blanket -- It's gorgeous!
