Grumble.

After I found out all of my stupid phones are dead I pulled out the trusty cell and called Select Comfort about my sleep number bed, which along with my big TV, met it's demise last night.  Of course the 20-year warranty does not cover Acts of God, such as lightning.  I had to order a new pump mechanism to the tune of $235.  I really thought about ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about all your troubles. You guys must have had it pretty rough. All we got today was a lot of rain, which I am so sick of.

Hopefully your policy wil cover some of the expensives.

Ah sorry... that's the rest of our storm. A neighbor said that lightning strike actually landed in the parking lot not 30 feet from our doors. Whew.

We'll just see if State Farm lives up to their advertising.

Good luck with the homeowner's policy. When our house got nailed by lightning (blew four tvs, three computers, the phone lines for the entire block, the freezer, the washing machine, dryer, lights, etc) lightning was covered. It even coverd $200 for spoiled food from the freezer blowing.

Mom had never been so happy for me to read her something....

Good luck!

Now that sounds like a near-disaster! Glad to hear they came through... that's a lot of damage. This is the first time we've ever had a claim, so hopefully all the $$ we shell out every year will pay off.

I hope so, they should.

And yeah, this is what it did to the roof in our attic. As you can see, we got a direct hit. The only reason the house didn't burn down is because it was raining so hard and we were there to quickly kill all the power. Rain was going right down through the electrical system.

Roof one

Roof two - with my bro's head for size reference.

YIKES! That's scary. And way too close, although it's a good thing you were there to intervene. I did unplug the PCs and some appliances and didn't turn them on till the next morning.
