Lt. Dan Band.

Just saw a short documentary about Gary Senise's Lt. Dan Band and their tours to entertain the military in Iraq.  He is a good bass player and the band pretty much rocks everything.  I'm impressed.

Saw Marley & Me. To those who said they wouldn't have seen it if they'd known about the sad ending; oh grow up.  And once again, read the cottonpickin' ( Read more... )

I didn't mean to blast Valkyrie as a film... I just didn't think Cruise was right for the part (other than his general appearance). If you have an interest in WWII history, it shows in intricate detail how hard it would have been to pull this off successfully. Unfortunately that chickenshit Hitler offed himself after 17 failed assasination attempts and deprived his countrymen of that particular victory. It's still totally worth it for the performances, especially Bill Nighy.

I think I was terribly spoiled by the authenticity of Sands of Iwo Jima and I expect everything to be that perfect. :)

About to see Valkyrie. Glad to hear Izzard is great - was afraid the casting was gonna pull myself out of the film (LOOK! British dudes as Nazis!). But ya, not expecting much from Cruise...

That said, LOVE Izzard!

Though the Cruise would manage to kill Hitler, but hey!

Ya know, even though I knew the plot failed, I kept hoping... The intricacy of the plan was interesting. In older films the details were so muddy that you had no clue about the escape plan, etc. Of course the worst part is that you know the implications of failure.

Tough to make a film where most (?) people essentially know the plot, but ya, they managed to make it suspenseful. I didn't know much about the escape plan as well or the intricacies of replacing the whole government.

I do have to say the overall cast was a bit problematic for me. Along the lines of "Look! Terence Stamp as a Nazi! And Kenneth!"
