tea and nails

I got the new nail polish colors I ordered yesterday and I've been playing around with trying different effects. The new nail polish colors turned out to be rather more pastel than I had thought they were going to be.( This is me experimenting trying to get a color gradient with the mint blue-green and light purple. )

If I caught a glimpse of someone's nails with your color-gradient, I'd certainly look twice: it's very eye-catching.

It's not a smooth gradient though, although this picture makes it look better than it is (though really I think I'm the only one who notices. Still, I do notice and since I'm not doing this for anyone but me that's all that counts).
According to some tutorials I watched on youtube, the best way to get a smooth gradient is to brush the colors onto a sponge and sponge it on. So I ordered some sponges and some brushes.

I think the light colors also show imperfections more than the dark ones. Last week I had burgundy transitioning to a deep green at the tips and I thought it looked better overall, even though if you looked closely it was much messier than this. Actually, I think that color combination looked awesome and I will probably try it again and post pics if I can get it to come out right.
