Oh the poor kitty! I so hope s/he will be fine. What kind of tests do they do to determine what happens? I've never heard of that. I just thought they nurse them back to health and then it's good. I wish I could keep the kitty :( I wish I could keep all the homeless ones and then spoil them rotten.
they have to test for feline leukemia, FIP, and feline AIDS. this really determines what kind of home they can go into (indoor only, no other cats to expose), and also, if the disease is too far gone, it may be kinder/safer to euthanize. usually, they do try to work with them and a placement arrangement. i've had FIP cats before, and it is hard have a cat with such a weak immune system, and knowing they can't be exposed to another cat.
Oh, I see. My first cat in Germany died of feline leukemia, she was bit by another cat who we think gave it to her. She was an outdoor cat. I am so glad that Ginger is an indoor cat (even though I feel bad for her because she wants to go outside so badly) but it seems so dangerous outside for cats.
