The Best Game Evar - Star Ocean The Second Story

For some reason, I was thinking about the most fun game I have ever played - and I think it was Star Ocean The Second Story. This game, for the PS1, had many things going for it

Yeah, but...

1. For some reason your character looked goofy while running in certain perspectives
4. Some characters really stunk--like if you chose Opera, you got saddled with Ernest, who was horrible.

Still, yeah, this is one of my favorite PS1 RPGs, mainly because of 3 and 5. The combat was a lot of fun and so was the item creation. I spent a lot of time just making random items (all those bombs and potions and poisons and whatnot) and then screwing around with them in random battles.

Star Ocean 3 just didn't look as good--they changed how the combat worked and the item creation is all weird, so I stayed away from it.

Hmm... You chose the same route as me. :P However, I am considering buying it when my bonus comes around this month (I am not normally allowed to buy games) because there is actually a "Director's Cut" new version of the game with new dungeons, new costumes, new modes (a vs. mode), and 2 new characters (!!). The 2 new characters look cool.

Star Ocean 3's combat and item creation is different? How is it different? I really liked Star Ocean 2's combat especially.

4. Ernest stinking - hahaha, well, he was pretty hard to get (you didn't always find him if you used Opera). I liked Claude, Rena, Ashton, Dias, Precis, and Chisato best. Leon was a bit weak, Noel was sort of mediocre, Opera's hissatsuwaza were hard to make (still didn't get some of them), Ernest was kind of weak.
