So, I was lucky and found three very nice baguazhang books that have made it to my own personal library. These books, however, are all in (late) classical Chinese! So I will have to polish up my rusty skills to read them

I always liked how old Chinese martial arts texts include sayings and instructions from teachers. Unfortunately I can't read Chinese, so I just have to put up with stuff that either sounds weird or just obvious in translation. ("Not being kicked in the groin is a primary concern.")
Aha, but you CAN read them, since they are not in Chinese, but in classical Chinese - i.e., "Kanbun." You will have to put the little "re"s and other markers in there yourself, though...
