I really envy you for the not-dubbing! I'd love to have the opportunity to watch everything in the original on TV and not in German. Luckily I have a cinema here where they show the original versions of films. The only one I ever go to! And I know about the title thing, as I watch the OV I only know that title as well - not the German one. Sharing this random stuff to tell you: heads up for your studying! Good luck for Friday!
The same thing in Finland. Mrs. Doubtfire in here was translated oddly. It has something to do with fathers and nannys. It would've been just as good if it was left as Mrs. Douptfire. Oh well, you can't always win. :)
I totally understand you.. I'm Italian, and you should see the titles of the shows here... Like, a few years ago there was the movie "From hell", starring Johnny Depp as the detective looking for Jack the Ripper... in Italy they translated the title as 'Jack the Ripper's real story', losing the reference to Jack's signature. And if you watched some episodes of any tv shows you would be stunned! I practically gave up watching 'Buffy' episodes in Italian.. it's like watching another show!
