I've noticed quite a few seem to own cats around here. Is it the trend, or the 'in thing' to do?

I am uncertain if this is some sort of custom. Regardless, having a cat around is quite pleasant, especially one so friendly.

Though you are right in that. Cats tend to fill a certain role in that manner.

You would not be the first daimyo to do so. Shimazu Yoshihiro famously adores his cat, in our world. I have heard that he even takes it onto battlefields.
