... you ... drowned, didn't you. [He's keeping his voice as neutral as possible - difficult, considering his accent, but made easier by the numb disbelief creeping into his voice, accentuating the flat syllables.]

No doubt, there is something about her own death that upsets her, so much that it takes a great deal of her strength to hide it.
