My theory on this is if you are constantly looking for your happiness in someone else, then it can't be your fault that you're unhappy. You're right that someone else will never make you complete; you have to make yourself complete. Once you love yourself, you can love someone else. But a lot of people don't think that way. They think that they can find their happiness in someone else, and that person will make them whole. I used to think that too, until I figured it out. You have to make yourself happy. Once you get that down, then you can find happiness with someone, but you can't let that person BE your happiness. Most people can't be bothered to fix themselves, because they keep waiting for someone else to do it for them. Then they blame other people for their own flaws - which is always easier, blaming someone else for your own issues. But it still doesn't fix the problem.

I think you nailed that right on the head--most people don't want to be fixed, because then they might have to *gasp* take responsibility for their own damn lives. And that can be terrifying.
