WHAT. THE. FUCK.
So, I'm home, not feeling great, and I think hey, Sports Night is now streaming on Netflix, so yay! A night with Casey, Dan, Dana, Isaac (Isaac!). I'm fully prepared to immerse myself in nostalgia and agree with LisaE that it was a show before it's time (I just always thought it was too intense for just a half hour).
(personal admission: I still have the TV Guide with Sports Night on the cover -- The Best Show You're Not Watching. As an added bonus, I hear Peter Krause in my head, when the cast went up to accept the (an?) award for The Best Show You're Not Watching, being dry and charming.
I start watching Sports Night, on CSC, and, of course, now I'm wondering what little things Aaron Sorkin included from following Keith Olbermann. And I'm realizing that I forgot or never realized that Ron Howard & Ben Glazer (is it Ben?) were producers so, of course, Parenthood with Peter Krause makes a lot more sense (even though I'm not watching it because (a) I watched the pilot and, although I like Lauren Graham in certain roles, the entire time I heard Maura Tierney say the lines and it's sounded a whole lot better in my head and (b) it was a movie that came out when I was a little kid and it was clearly meant for "grown ups," so that was always going to be a little odd. This all made me rather sad since IT'S PETER KRAUSE! and that actress from I'm with Lucy and I really need to remember her name).
So, clearly, I'm on this mental walkabout and therefore I'm wholly unprepared for what sounds like a laugh track.
I think I must be hallucinating. My ears are playing tricks on me. They remember when I watched the show when it was replaying on some other channel and there was a laugh track and it was hideous because I'd only laugh at the non-laugh track moments.
BUT OMG THERE'S A LAUGH TRACK.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Is this just on streaming? Are there DVDs available that somehow don't have a laugh track? Why the hell would they add (and keep!) the laugh track?
And now, I don't want to watch because the laugh track is going to be a rather vicious invasion and yet I really want to watch this show again. I want to watch all the characters again, because they really were just very, very good.
Sigh.
