And what Sam says to Gene is so awful and so cruel. And true. It's the sort of fight friends and lovers have, the worst kind, where you know each other so well, you know how to hurt the other one so badly.
Whoosh! You just keep getting better and better, don't you?

I think that's very true. I had a bit of a battle with myself in this chapter to be honest, as while I think Sam would turn to Gene over Annie on this one, I didn't exactly think Gene would comfort him (althouh I suppose he does, in his own way).
I'm sorry you thought Sam was cruel! Like you said, I think they know each other well enough to be able to dig out each other's faults like that. Bad Sam!! I think what's more sad is that Gene knows it's true.
Anyway, thanks for commenting!

Ahhhh, I'm still loving this so much. Especially your plot, which I think is just brilliant. The whole story is brilliant. And I like the way you built up to Gene and Sam! ;)
'Can’t arrest life, can we?' Best line. :D

Quite possibly my favourite too. It's so what Gene's problem with the world is!

I get so hyped when I see you've updated this *squee* so this part just blew my brain. Wonderful as always. Loved how Gene wanted it out with Sam and then he just brushed it off when it suited. So Gene.
Sam and Gene together in this is so very hot but it's also thought provoking and evocotive. Wonderful.

Especially pleased that you liked the Sam/Gene scene when you yourself write them so very well.

Yes, he does have a habit of wanting it all, doesn't he?
