Okay, so after my little rant below, I felt I had to write the Gene/Sam scene that I though the final episode demanded. It is also born out of the fact that I thought Gene's reaction to Ray's revelation was not at all as shocked as I exepected. So here it is.

That really does feel like a little bit of the finale that got pushed to the cutting room floor. In fact, from now on it's my personal canon. *waves magic fanon wand*

I really like the scenario and Sam's explanation for his madness/amnesia and this absolutely explains the end. I'd imagined anyway that Sam must have apologised and Gene Let It Be Known to the rest of the team that It's All Right About Sam. So that, I suppose, is why this totally worked for me. And, of course, the beautiful characterisation and dialogue.

You know, the episode needed something like this, and yaye for this being written.

I loved that Gene knew. I loved that Sam apologised and I loved the last line.

Loved the fact that Gene already knew what Sam was there for, even if Sam didn't know.:D

That last sentance too, is brill ~ one of the reasons I think, whether he woke up or was still in a coma, that he went back to 1973. :)
