So, it's the third or fourth questions post and already I'm getting lazy in my formatting.
21: Do you prefer being around men or women? Do your closest friends tend to be men or women?
Men, however my closests of friends tend to be women.
22: If you could use a voodoo doll to hurt anyone you chose, would you do it?
I have considered it in the past, but I also place a lot of stock in karma and the threefold law.
23: While on a trip to another city, your spouse (or lover) meets and spends a night with an exciting stranger. Given that they will never meet again, and that you would not otherwise learn of the incident, would you want your partner to tell you? If roles were reversed, would you reveal what you had done?
I would want to know, and I would tell. I am a fan of full disclosure.
23b: How serious would an affair need to be before you would want and expect to be told about it? What makes hearing such a confession so threatening that most people would rather be deceived? Is this kind of honesty more likely to be destructive or to lead to greater intimacy and trust? How much do you trust your lover? How much can you be trusted?
I believe in the look but don’t touch rule. You can fantasise about being with a person all you want. The moment there’s touching, I want to be told. Hell, I’d love to think I can be confided in to be told when even the fantasizing is going on, but I don’t care so much. I think openness leads to greater intimacy and trust. I don’t have a lover to speak of.
24: Are their people you envy enough to want to trade lives with them? Who are they?
Originally, I wrote “Of course!” and then I realised, I wouldn’t have my family or my friends, so no.
25: For an all-expense-paid, one week vacation anywhere in the world, would you be willing to kill a beautiful butterfly by pulling off its wings? What about stepping on a cockroach?
I NEED a vacation, and I think I saw a butterfly outside today…
25b: Why does a beautiful creature merit more compassion than an ugly one? Does it damage us psychologically when we destroy something we find beautiful?
I don’t know why it is. On the one hand, I’d like to think that’s it’s equal, but I know in my own life, I have no problem killing bugs and would never club a seal. I think it might damage us psychologically when we destroy something we find beautiful.
How meaningful is the difference between pulling the wings off an insect and stepping on it? Is the decision of how to kill something a minor decision when balanced against the decision of whether or not to kill at all?
It might just be the difference between cruelty and mercy - or so far as mercy goes when you’re about to kill something... I do think that the way you're going to kill something is as important as your decision to do it, but that maybe once the decision to do it has been taken it makes the latter a little easier to make
26: Would you be willing to murder an innocent person if it would end hunger in the world?
Oh wow…that’s tough…I think, yes, because hunger affects millions of innocent people. Still, I would carry that guilt with me for the one person I had to murder to better the lives of those million others, but I think it is a sacrifice for the better.
26b: Would it torment you more to have the blood of an innocent person on your hands or to know you let millions of people die? What do think of people who achieve great things by compromising their principles?
Many are willing to give their own lives but not to take the life of another; is anything so important you would sacrifice your very soul for it?
It would torment me more to know I let millions of people die. I don’t think much of people who achieve a lot by compromising their principles. There is nothing so important I would sacrifice my very soul for at the moment.
27: If God appeared in a series of vivid and moving dreams and told you to leave everything behind, travel alone to the Red Sea and become a fisherman, what would you do? What if you were told to sacrifice your child?
God, I hate fish! lol
Seriously though, if I really believed it was “God” and not just a joke by my subconscious, I think I would do it. I would never sacrifice my child.
28: What is your most treasured memory?
I honestly can’t think of an answer to this right now. I’ll come back to it at the end…
29: Have you ever hated anyone? If so, why, and for how long?
I’ve only ever held true hate for people I hear about doing horrible things especially to children but also just to others. Other than that, I have never really hated anyone I know in a serious way.
30: Would you be given $10,000 for your own use or $100,000 to give anonymously to strangers? What if you could keep $1,000,000 or give away $20,000,000?
I know it’s gonna make me seem selfish (maybe I am), but I’d keep it in both cases.
