Doctor Who Top Five (Episodes)

So, make an entry in your journal and tell me (and everyone else) what your five favourite Doctor Who episodes (plus one guilty pleasure episode, because we all have one ;) hehe) are - and spread the Doctor Who love! I've added pictures with mine, because that's just how I roll, but you don't have to.

Mine are in chronological order. (Also, all are NewWho, because I don't know Classic Who well enough yet to do a top five.)

One
"Rose"

This episode, to me, is the perfect introduction or reintroduction to the show. Funny and witty and a little cheesy. Rose could be any one of us, and Nine is epic and just.. everything the Doctor should be. And this quote by the Doctor is the best moment in the episode:

"Do you know like I was saying about the Earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid. The first time they tell you that the Earth's turning and you just can't quite believe it cause everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it. The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at 1,000 miles an hour, and the entire planet is hurtling 'round the Sun at 67,000 miles an hour and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go... That's who I am."

Two
"The Girl in the Fireplace"

It doesn't hurt that Stephen Moffat wrote this episode, when he'd already written two fantastic episodes so far ("The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances") and gave me my favourite companion, Jack. So that plus the gorgeousness of 18th Century France and the coolness of the Clockwork Androids and the chemistry between Ten and Reinette. I'd already loved Ten, from the first second we meet him, but I think this was the episode where I decided that he's my Doctor.

Three
"Blink"

Another Moffat episode. This one absolutely terrifies me in its simpleness. You get a warning not to do one of the most natural things.. blinking. The only thing more natural would be breathing. And I love Sally. She's my favourite minor character who should totally be a companion.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly.... timey-wimey.... stuff."

"This is my Timey-Wimey Detector. Goes "ding" when there's stuff. Also, it can boil an egg at 30 paces. Whether you want it to or not, actually, so I've learnt to stay away from hens - it's not pretty when they blow."

Four
"The Sound of Drums"/"Last of the Time Lords"

So I cheated a little with these, but too bad. I love these two. I love the Master, he's my favourite Who villain, if not my favourite villain ever. I love Jack and his getting an opportunity to get some answers he's been looking for. I love the friendship sparked between Jack and Martha. I love that, even though it was an enemy, the Doctor realizes he's not alone.

Five
"Turn Left"

I'm a sucker for alternate time lines. Which is probably why I love the above two episodes as well. It's Donna's story as it could have been, but it's also about the Doctor's affect on us. And yes, I still tear up when Rose says Gwen and Ianto just died blowing up the Sontaran ship, because I'm a loser.

Guilty Pleasure
"Boomtown"

Let's be honest, this is not a good episode. It's the return of the Slitheen, return of Mickey (gag me with a spoon), etc. But it's Cardiff. And it's Jack in Cardiff. And it's my Team Tardis (Doctor/Rose/Jack) being happy and adorable, even when shit starts to go down.

I'm probably going to do a Torchwood one next. But this one took me three days, so don't expect it anytime soon.
