Thank you for the reminder! Americans are not perfect, nor are our leaders. We make faulty judgments and decisions as we are flawed humans. I am proud to be an American, though, and proud of all the service men and women who have gone where they were asked to go and grateful to them and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I will limit us to the recent and current century, but we have gone in to batttles not to conquer but to liberate, not to systematically murder, rape and pillage, but to provide food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. When children see GI's in Iraq, they get toys and candy and water and food, not hatred and beatings. And why would we expect differently, for these are our brothers and fathers and sisters and uncles and grandfathers? Freedom isn't free.

I had tears in my eyes watching the commercials of 'thank you' made by the Iraqi Kurds to be shown on American television. They are liberated, they are free and they appreciate it. May their joy spread throughout the middle-east.
