I am SO done with the Mac. I love the convenience and it is all I have ever known, but I can't get this piece of shit to download ANYTHING in the way of browsers, Safari locks up everytime I try and I don't know ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about these fuckers anymore. Oh yes, I am losing my mind, and I AM pretty damn manic at the moment, but I don ( Read more... )

Perhaps you should just calm down - I've been using a Cube for six years with zero problems and it's still a perfectly usable machine, if not very fast by today's standards. Go through the usual Mac cleaning up procedures and it'll work satisfactorily.

See, the thing is, when I bought my original Mac (a few years ago) and then upgraded (another few years ago) I had someone who would help me get stuff cleaned up and figured out. Well he is in the middle of getting married and isn't exactly avail. these days. I don't know anyone else who has a Mac so I am extremely frustrated. I don't know how to clean up, I don't know how to check for a virus, I don't know how to do anything. After my rant I was able to finish one application for school on Firefox (which I was eventually able to get to work) but the final one I can not get done without IE. I am thinking about going to the library, finishing it all up on a PC, then getting a cheap PC laptop in a few weeks so I am not going through this trauma. In the fall when I start to take the serious classes I will upgrade my Mac to the G5 complete with the tech support so I am not stuck like this. SO I have a game plan but in the meantime I am not sure what else to do....

There are a few great FREE utilities that may fix your cube. Go to versiontracker.com and download Onyx. It is a great package that bundles a bunch of terminal apps into a simple GUI. Also, Macfixit.com has a great forum that covers all kinds of Mac problems. Just do a search for the troubles your Cube is having.

If you're serious about a cheap laptop, see if you can score one on Craigslist. If it's gotta be new, buy.com has a 14" Acer laptop for under $590.

Good luck!

If your still interested in getting rid of the Cube I'd be interested in taking it off your hands. Leave me a message or email me @ dj.kinetic@gmail.com Ciao.
