Science rules! I'm realizing that if I had one extra semester here or if I had doubled up in chemistry last semester, I could have a chemistry minor. This makes me very sad and upset.

What I did my first 3 years of teaching is just take 1 night class and 2 summer classes. It was totally doable (though in Education so the courses were a bit easier). In about 3 years I had an M.A. in Teaching ESL!

Then after 3 years in my district you can take a 2-year "leave of absence." So that's what I'm doing for this M.A. in English.

Also, see if you can do a funded M.A. with an assistantship so you won't have to take out loans and you can get the college teaching experience. A lot of community colleges want you to have 2 years of teaching experience at the college level, so if you get the assistantship you'll get that while you do the MA degre.

Anyway, I'm glad I managed to do this even while being a teacher.
