There still seems to be a position open in Halifax that I'd be qualified for. I'm afraid of moving there alone, not knowing anyone there, but it could be a good place for me, at least for a while. The money is better than anything I've seen in Edmonton (as good as anything I've seen in Toronto that I'd be qualified for). The cost of living might ( Read more... )

Okay, so there's a friend of several friends to start with! If she loves it so much, I guess I should solicit her opinions.

the idea would give me the willies, certainly. sometimes, that's the sort of thing that's needed, as a rut-getting-out-of technique. still gives me the willies.

go not to buhrger for counsel, for he will say both "no" and "yes". :-/

I appreciate the detailed "no but yes" comments. I can see where it might be useful, too. That's if I could actually handle it.

I think its the kind of town where you have to get out and meet people.

During WW2 it was so snotty to sailors that they looted it on VE day to celebrate.

Spider features it in his book Mindkiller aka Timekiller.

I have cousins there I have never met.

Everyone should live by the ocean once.

Yup, I read, er, the expanded newer version of that book. Mindkiller, I guess?

I've almost lived by the Pacific Ocean, spending lots of time in California, mostly the SF Bay Area, on business trips for my first "real" job. It might be be good to try it more long-term.

Thanks!

You guess rightly.

I have heard good and bad things about Halifax.

Yes, stories like these are some of the attraction to moving there. Thanks for the reminder!

Robert's brother Robin is living in Halifax right now. You may have met him at one or more of the LAN parties he was at while visiting family.
