Finally I've got time to watch Best Artist 2018 in full version last weekend. At first, I wanted to watch it because Sakurai Sho was chosen (again!) to be the MC, but after I took a look at the performers' list, I KNOW I have to watch it.
Reason number 1: Sakurai Sho as MC
I always love seeing his interaction with other performers. In these interactions, he showcased his communication skill, which is remarkable as always. He seemed to be at ease talking with the artists. He also did not hide his excitement whenever there is artist he liked performed. The mini pig is a pleasant and adorable surprise, also! XD
Reason number 2: 残酷な天使のテーゼ in the setlist
I love Evangelion. It was the first anime series that I watched. It made me fall in love with the world of anime and manga. I was so amazed with every episode, that I wondered "what the hell was that???" every time I finished one episode. In the end of the series, I felt so stupid, that I felt like I had to watch it all over again, just to understand what Anno Hideaki was trying to say. I was 15 years old at that time. Evangelion was too heavy for me to digest. Not only the storyline, but the characters were equally intriguing. Needless to say, Evangelion was number one anime to me.
Reason number 3: Arashi's Brave
I was curious of the song NTV uses as image song for Rugby World Cup 2019. Snippets of it in wide shows made me want to hear it even more. And I was not disappointed. I love the Sakurap part in this song. I love the chorus. I love the choreography. This song is perfect as Rugby World Cup image song. Bravo, Arashi!
Reason number 4: Keyakizaka46 is performing
Of all female idol groups in Japan, Keyakizaka46 is the only group I watch. There is something different about them. The way they don't smile while performing. Their intense choreography (I'm a sucker for good choreographies). And their costumes, which are FAR from revealing. They NEVER wear mini skirt or skimpy clothes, but still cute and cool. Yes, cute and cool are two words I'd use to describe them. You don't have to wear revealing clothes to be a female idol.
Yep, those are the reasons why I HAD to watch this year's Best Artist. I hope Sakurai Sho will be given another opportunity to host again, because he did a good job! お疲れさまでした、翔さん!
My next to watch list is: Kouhaku!!! XD
Sho-san, you're MCing again, not to mention Arashi still have concerts, and you have other commitments such as news zero and other Arashi's variety programs, so please take care of yourself. Looking forward to see you in Kouhaku :D
