Summary: "Sephiroth didn't play with the Masamune." Tseng in the Temple of the Ancients.
Sephiroth didn't play with the Masamune. It - or she, as Sephiroth himself referred to the blade - was deadly serious. He had a duplicate, identical in every aspect but the magic, that he used to spar with. The Masamune was only brought out to deal death.
The duplicate had been shoved through Tseng at an awkward angle. He knew it wasn't the Masamune because of the blood - and the fact that he was still breathing. Masamune was a soul-stealer; she killed with a single bloodless touch. Which meant that Sephiroth hadn't meant to kill him. Tseng staggered to his feet. If he hadn't meant to kill him, there was no point in dying.
He still had work to do.
