I was totally bitten by this random plotbunny at work. I've never written Oceans 11 fic before, but Danny WOULD NOT SHUT UP. It even came out in letter form. So here you go.

Summary: "Bank jobs take a lot of planning, if you want to have the slightest hope of succeeding."
Here's the thing, kid.
Bank jobs take a lot of planning, if you want to have the slightest hope of
succeeding. After all, the industry in large part continues to exist
because it keeps guys like us from doing what we want to. It's hard to
argue with the sheer amount of money you can pull out of a bank, at least
for lower-level criminals, but you can't just do a smash-and-grab, like you
can with a jewelry store. The money is all safely locked away, and getting
that money out takes time, and time during a theft takes planning.
Therefore, the people who are drawn to bank jobs are planners, methodical
and careful. Patience is the number one virtue in that kind of job. Trust
me when I say that the most patient people you'll ever hope to meet are bank
robbers and snipers.
The problem with planners, though, is that they like plans. A lot. And the
problem with the real world, is that things don't always go according to
plan, and nobody can plan for every possible thing that can go wrong. Even
me. The reason I'm successful - and I can say in complete confidence that I
am the finest thief on the continent, and probably in the world - is that I
train my people to be methodical yet flexible. Things go wrong, but what
separates the men from the boys is how you react to apparent disaster.
That's my best advice to you. Plan, plan, plan for everything you can think
of, no matter how absurd (how would you react to a bank full of nuns?), but
don't live and die by your plan. Don't be afraid to adjust it as the
circumstances demand. Know when to quit and try again another day. Oh, and
don't carry a gun, or even a knife. Armed robbery is a felony. The best
thieves don't need weapons; my skills lie in convincing people to see what
they want to see. You don't want to know how many jobs I've pulled armed
with nothing more dangerous than a water pistol or a spoon.
Best of luck.
