ask lyonesse about aikido and/or horseback riding; both are singularly excellent for improving body awareness, flexibility, and strength, and i've found both to be a lot of fun.
the only significant downside is that neither of those activities are quite within the geographic area required, but don’t let that stop you.
i don't like to pump either of these b/c i do teach them. if y'all are enough mit-connected to use the z-center though i can recommend mit kokikai club.
i can give rides to horseback riding lessons, but you do have to want to, you know, be around horses :)
they're usaf, so i have little familiarity with them. we kinda tried to start up harvard kokikai, but never got far with the process :/
i'm perenially looking for an appropriate and cheap space around somerville to teach; as it is i run seminars sometimes but out in littleton (i'm chief instructor of littleton kokikai :)
prosicated was doing Cross-fit training in that neck of the woods (I believe) with extremely impressive results. You might want to ping her and find out where she was working out.
I am devoted to the personal trainer I worked with a few years back. Last I heard, she was at the Bally's in Medford, but I'll bet she could get into the one in Porter also. If you're interested, I can send you her info.
She's Gina Scuderi, and I'm pretty sure she's at the Bally's at 285 Middlesex Ave in Medford, (781) 321-4980. I will see if I can find her email or phone and send it to you privately.
a gym she will attend is infinitely superior to one she will not. so determining what's convenient/pleasant for her is imho the most important thing.
today there is a coupon for three cheaptastic private trainings not *too* far off, which she might then be able to implement at some more local gym (or, like, yr house) under her own auspices:
