Well, you've just made my plain old toast and jam breakfast look utterly unappetizing, but I'm loving reading about it! And the links to street view make it even cooler. Yay! The good thing about all of you folks bailing for Asia at the same time is that I get to read when you blog about the amazing food.
Thanks for the post! I figure I'll catch a flight up there on one of the many random low-fare airlines. I haven't been to Hong Kong in ages--not counting today's quick transfer at the airport--and I need to fix that.
I'm here now, and I'm confirming that Old Airport Road Hawkers Centre sounds good to me. I want to go get something over at Mustafa Centre before lunch--and possibly give bedfull_o_books a brief morning tour around Little India--but I'm sure we can work out timing in the morning. Just give a call when you're up, and I'll do the same if I haven't heard from you.
if that's the same pineapple buns i'm thinking about, i think they're called that because the pattern on the top is thought to resemble pineapple skin, a bit, and it doesn't have pineapple in it at all.
mmm. i'd love to go to hong kong sometime. it sounds delicious.
everyone but us was "cleaning" their chopsticks in hot tea before eating. My parents actually still do this occasionally. Some places they give the dishes a quick rinse in hot tea. And Dad suggested I bring my own chopsticks when eating street food in China
