Barn drama = I don't involve myself in it.
My barn manager is shooting off his mouth that my horse is a liability and unsound and is never going to be able to be an event horse. What does he know? He doesn't even ride that often. He had the nerve to tell my trainer this. He told her I should sell Onyx. We are so out of there!

I am actively looking. What really bites about the whole thing is that I have to give a 30 day notice. I am going to have to be at the stable for another whole month with this guy.

Goodness, if Onyx is such a liability you'd think he'd be happy to let you go without notice.

I would be VERY angry.

I do really worry about your horse, though. It sounds like you've been having a lot of struggles and I wonder if you will get the reward you (and Onyx) deserve for all of the effort you've been making.

We have an excellent training program we are following. She is a green horse and needs work. It is totally worth all of the effort. She is relatively easy compared to most horses at her stage of training. Most of the problems were caused by the ignorance of the barn manager. Onyx is doing fabulous now and is going to be a dressage star. My trainer thinks she will go far and so do I. Not to mention the judge at the horse show thought she had enormous potential.

Yes, it was good to get that feedback from the judge. I know horses tend to come into their own in dressage a lot later than in other events and, as long as you're patient, you should see good things happening.

I've really enjoyed reading about your adventures with Onyx and I really regret that I won't be around to watch you two show together!

Stay tuned. Same bat channel. I am sure we have many adventures in our future. Maybe next time I can have someone video it so I can post it.

No. I am still looking for a new barn. I don't think Derby Farms is the place for us. I would really like to find somewhere with both Dressage and jumping. I am going to look at Bridlewood and White Pond stables on Friday. I am really hoping to find something by the 1st so I can give my notice.

!! Glad you're leaving. He sounded like a real schmuck to me from the beginning. Think how fabulously she'll perform/feel after FINALLY getting the treatment she deserves from a REAL barn manager!

And Christ, seems like someone who cares for animals should have a leetle more kindness and compassion running through his veins.

I think he just gets a kick out of sounding like he knows everything. He is not a mean man and does take pretty good care of my horse.
