that is where Deborah, a friend of a friend, trains. the place looks nice, and Arabian farms tend to take exquisite care of their horses. you just have to be willing to deal with the carts, and grocery bags on dressage whips being smacked against fences. i don't know if morning star farms does that, but that is a typical arabian/morgan/saddlebred technique to get the bugged out expressions they love so much. do you know what farriers go to that farm?

as much as ravenswood is pretty to look at, i'm uncomfortable with the explanation, "well none of the horses have died from it, but i'm on it!" when referring to the lack of water for the horses. the footing in the indoor is a suspensory nightmare and my horse has hock rubs. and i pay $625. [insert something i would not put in print on the internet about someone here]

*waves*

Onyx will be staying with me (Deborah) =] Rest assured there are no arabian saddle seat trainers here. All dressage and hunter techniques. The most gimmicks we use is a martingale or occasional side reins.

I used to train at Ravenswood before the current owner bought it a jacked the rates claiming to become the next Rock Meadows. I left when the barn was sold to the current owners.

It's a great location...wish the original owners never sold it as they were great to work with, but they went to work for Robert Redford at his Sundance Ranch. Great opportunity, can't blame them.

awesome! i am barn shopping too. i have friends in the Arab & Morgan world in FL, so i am pretty familiar with their world. my experience with the breeds has been nothing but good, but saddle seat is completely foreign to me ( ... )

I think that most of the major farriers come to our facility. I use Brennan Pfiel as he walks on water. Fred Star and Randy Alexander trained him years ago and all the vets love him.

I am sorry for your frustration. No place is perfect however for that much board you should not have to babysit.

my apologies for sharing my barn drama. i am not a professional horseperson in WA, but as one, i hold myself up to those standards. this is my hot button. i tend to say too much when i get back from the stable at night, but that is no excuse for my over the top catty reply.

i'm not familiar with any of those farriers. i use Mike Rumpza who i really like. my horse has problme feet and the farrier who came highly recommended to me here, crippled him and did everything i told him not to. that farrier is my other hot button, so i will bit my tongue until it bleeds now.

i've been riding horses since before i knew how to ride a bike, but i never really integrated to the horse community up here. even though it seems like it shouldn't be very different, it really is. then again, it might just be where my pony lives.
