Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy....

Onyx is a very content, happy, no vice pony! She has taken to the new barn better than I could have ever imagined. She gets outside for hours everyday and then I come and work her at night. The people there are amazing. I hope I have not run my mouth too much out of excitement. I tend to talk too much when I get nervous around new people ( Read more... )

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that it's working out for you two. The old place sounded miserable. Nothing like a good barn!

Are you sure you aren't just muscled up from all the exercise?

such happy news! yay! we can both have happy ponies now :)

Ally's on Stragety -- I've heard good things and Karin though he'd gained some weight on it (3 weeks before he was shipped here), but it's hard to tell. he really needs another 1-200 lbs :( Course, he's getting fuzzy now, so even HARDER to tell. I'll find out more when I clip him in a few more weeks.

They are supposed to get 1-2 lbs of Stragety a day, or so I've been told. Ally's getting 3-4 and still not really gaining.

If this doesn't work by the end of the month, I'll go with the more expensive LMF PrimeTime that DID work for Ally last year. Or both! gah, at this point....

any how. YAY for Onyx :)

Here is the feed calculator. Onyx is supposed to get 10+lbs a day. Yikes! I don't think I will be feeding her that much. She is getting right about 7lbs of Ultium right now. Maybe I can up her hay 1/2 flake to 1 flake more at every feeding. Silly TB mare. She is kind of a hard keeper. Maybe I will put her on the weight gain again too. Hope Ally gains too. Happpy ponies all around.

We have been looking for a new place to house our OTTB, but since we're not going to be doing any formal riding/lessons/etc, and can't afford a BIG barn, we're stuck for the moment with the pasture she's in. I was out there the other day, and she's grown in her Winter coat (or most of it) and WOW is she shaggy! Who knew a TB could grow so much hair? I'm so used to seeing them all groomed and clipped short, I don't think I ever saw one with a nice thick winter coat!

I love fuzzy TB's! I will add you to my friends list. It is always great to know horse people in the Seattle area.
