When: After Pride tries and miserably fails to resurrect AU!Al, morning after the evacuation.
Summary: Al is dead. Pride isn't happy. At all. Who wants to pry one dead person from the other?

Funnily enough, the sky was blue. So blue and the birds were chirping like they were mocking him. Him and the body he had woken up cradled in his arms. He tried, honest-to-heaven tried, he was willing to sacrifice himself to get Al back. But the Gate. The Gate, Truth, that papercut boy laughed and told him Al was part of his price.
And he was thrown back, the blood dripping out of the array carved on his skin and cold dead corpse in his arms. Dead. Al was dead and it was all his - Edward's - he didn't know anymore - fault. He shifted his weight on the stone slab and leant backwards, leaning on the headstone. Pride was tired. He felt drained. He felt like killing someone, hurting, anyone, but he knew it would be useless. Everything was useless, now, now that...
He bowed his head and wept.
