Hmm, I wonder if it's raining back home...

Ironhide, if you're available, would you care to meet me on deck 13?

[A nice, wide open field of flowers. No chance for anyone sneaking up or eavesdropping.]

#ironhide, checking the clouds for storms, filtered, you can't take the sky from this pirate, take you down any way i can, captain of a motley crew

Yeah. Sure. Be a minute.

[Just going to transform and roll out head up there.]

[Phoenix is waiting for him, standing in plain view, not too close to the entrance, but not too far from it, either. He's currently looking up at the sky, enjoying the illusion, or whatever it is. It's good to be out in the open, even if it isn't real.

He turns when he hears Ironhide's approach and-

In the name of the Makers, since when were cars able to get off deck 20?!]

[The truck is nowhere near as large as it should be. More like a Golf Cart of Death than an actual truck. Nevertheless, it makes good time across the field before pulling to a halt in front of Phoenix.

And, without ceremony, save for the grind and spark of gears, the truck stands up. Panels fold and flip away, parts swing upward and compact until it's no longer a truck.

Just Ironhide.]

You wanted something?

[Phoenix's arms drop to his sides and he takes a startled step back.]

Precursors, what-

Ironhide?

[Sorry, Ironhide. Give him a moment. He's never seen a Transformer transform.]

I wish it would rain here. It has been a long time since I have seen it rain.

[There is very real surprise in Phoenix's voice.]

No rain at all? Even on the upper deck?

missmimmi February 21 2010, 23:29:34 UTC
None at all! We have had extremely good weather since I got here. It snowed for a bit in December, but that is it.

It is a bit odd, considering we are out at sea.

I was here for the snow, and it was inside the ship, so that hardly counts. That doesn't make any sense. How can there be no change in the weather outside? And if Redd is the reason, why would anyone want it that way? I'm as grateful as the next pilot for fair weather and the like, but rain is appreciated too.

Do you like the rain, Captain Phoenix?

Reply

ecopiracy February 22 2010, 00:13:27 UTC
On occasion, yes. It presents a danger, of course, but it also provides opportunity and thrill. Have you ever ridden the wind when it's battering against your wings?

[Zelda laughs.]

No, I can't say I have. Next to you, my life seems very simple, and perhaps sheltered.

That's only to be expected, really, if your upbringing was anything like-

[The pause is barely noticeable, but he cut himself off, changing what he'd been about to say.]

-that of most royalty. Although, being on this ship, I would say certainly counts as complication enough. Wouldn't you agree?

Probably, if the Brink's anything like Haven.

Reply

ecopiracy February 22 2010, 02:41:50 UTC
There's a lot more water in the Brink, and a lot more in the air. I imagine it rains more frequently than in Haven, but since I've never been there, I'm only hazarding a guess.

Jak, I have a question for you regarding our recent conversation. Would you mind coming to deck 13?

[No answer.

But about ten minutes later, Jak wanders into the flower field, looking around for Phoenix.]

[Phoenix isn't difficult to find. He's waiting for Jak several yards away, his arms folded and eyebrows furrowed in thought. He looks up at Jak and nods him over. He doesn't waste any time getting down to business.]

Jak. You said your abilities with light eco are primarily defensive. Nothing that can be used to attack?

Does it rain a lot there?

Reply

ecopiracy February 22 2010, 23:16:23 UTC
It depends on the season, really. Sometimes it rains every day. Other times, you can go for a couple weeks without feeling a single drop. Right now, I think my home would be in the middle of one of the more moderate times - enough rain to keep things green, but not so much that you don't see the sun. It's usually fairly gentle rain, but we do have our storms.

[Phoenix chuckles.]

Those certainly make life interesting when you're up in the air.

onlyajackass February 22 2010, 23:31:20 UTC
So it's got like a cycle or something? Interesting.

[Interest piqued after hearing that.]

Up in the air? An airship?

ecopiracy February 22 2010, 23:38:21 UTC
For the most part. The storms have been growing worse of late, though, so it's been getting more difficult to predict.

Actually, yes.

[Phoenix tilts his head.]

Is there any particular reason you ask?
