I have to put this on a public forum with more words than can be used on Facebook, so here I am, going where I don't usually go...religion and politics ( Read more... )

Not only is it wrong, it also incites the crazies who then do something violent. It isn't funny and it isn't a joke. I looked at the page and it just amazes me that people who say things like that honestly believe they are good Christians. It makes me both sad and disgusted.

I'm still trying to find a way to say what I feel without being too direct and causing a ruckus on my FB page. These are people I respect ya know? They slipped down the ladder a few rungs with me today. Just because it is on Facebook, doesn't mean it is OK and meant to be lighthearted fun.

*sigh* I'll have to do my own prayer for this one.

There's also a group that's formed specifically to say this kind of thing is fucked up - it's Facebook culture to do this sort of thing, unfortunately.

I thought about hitting the join button for the alter-prayer thing, but I decided not to feed that beasty and just put my own prayer up, which I did and I got a little teary as I typed it. I try really hard to stay neutral on these public sites, really I do...*sigh*

I would have to tell my friends that I disagree with their actions. Putting that kind of energy out there is dangerous!

I'm not good at confrontation, so I figure rather than angry or frustrated energy I'll put a nice clear clean push out and as others follow it gets bigger.

Water signs during Merc Ret are sad puppies when it comes to trying to get our point across :( It is interesting that this nasty little piece of business has surfaced during the this retrograde.

I saw it on my niece's facebook and it bothered me at first, then I just kind of considered the source and ignored commenting on it any further. I'm sure in her case, and in most of the cases, it's follow the lemming humor. The disturbing part is that for some it isn't.
Being president of the board of directors for the local public access station has made me more cognizant on the real meaning of freedom of speech. It's not only being able to express your own views, but also affording the same right to people with views that make your blood boil. The whole Micheal Douglas "flag burning" speech in the movie American President.

I've probably become too "live and let live" in my old age - too much else to worry about. I feel sorry for most of the people that feel the need to jump on this bandwagon as they probably have minimal individuality. But it comes with baggage - they also proclaim Patrick Swayzie (sic) to be their favorite actor :) . No disrespect to Patrick (RIP), but other than "no one puts baby in a corner..."
