Blueberries

I had some wild blueberries at a party last week. I'd never eaten or even seen them before. They're tiny--like 3 or 4 mm in diameter type of tiny--and very strongly flavored. I liked them. They crunched a lot and tasted, well, very blueberrish.

Oh my gosh! You'd NEVER had wild blueberries? I'm not a snob about a lot of things, but I grew up with ONLY wild blueberries, and the weirdly fat flavorless cultivated kind always seemed wrong to me.

Maybe before Burning Man we can go up to Maine and pick blueberries. It's fun -- you end up eating quite a lot of them, of course, but I'm sure we could stil end up with enough to cook something tasty.

Mmmm wild blueberries. We used to go to dogtown and pick them in the summer when I was very very little. I miss them, you just can't get them out west.
