So, I gave this speech today during assembly for the Day of Silence GSA is hosting next week. It was an interesting process because it took me a while to decide what to write, and I was nervous about speaking in front of the whole school. I was also torn about how much personal stuff I wanted to divulge and go into, but I think I struck a nice

That's a great speech. I did the Day of Silence a few times as part of the GSA I was in in high school, and i remember being shocked at how poorly it was received by some, and how responsive others were. Maybe if we had had you there to explain the motivation behind it (because, let's be honest, an index card with a little explanation doesn't do it justice) it would have gone better. Good work.

Thanks, guys. Next week the students are giving a presentation. I wish I could share their stories with you. All three male faculty advisors (including myself) almost started crying after they all read them. The students in the club are impressive in so many ways.
