... and it did not go well. I got to see first hand where Theo gets most (but not all) of his stubbornness. As if I didn't have enough going on this weekend, I now get to figure out what to do with the stuff Ashley has left behind. Before you can "throw out" (if that's what you end up doing) anyone's property that legally lived with you, you have to have the property left behind declared abandoned. That requires a certified letter and notice of when they need to pick it up by and to declare if they don't you will dispose of it.

With Theo, you know that you are going to keep in contact, one way or another, so it's probably best to just pack it up, and stick it in the attic/basement/wherever. If you do get to less hostle terms in the future, and she asked where it was, saying you tossed it out would probably wrench things up again. Then just remind her occasionally that you still have it, and hope that eventually she'll either take it, or say throw it out.

... If I didn't need to get a roommate, or want to recover the garage for parking, it probably wouldn't be as big a deal. But I don't have the desire to continue helping her, especially as public storage...
