I am at heart a writer, but I also do artwork such as sketching, copying, and collaging, and in most of my pieces (except the copies), I include words. They aren't my own words, however, they are quotes and lyrics from other writers and musicians. I consider finding words that fit my artwork part of the creative process as well, like when people put a quote from another writer at the beginning of a chapter in their own book, to add to what they themself are writing.

A picture can say a thousand words, but in order to narrow the focus of my artwork, I do like to literally place words within the frames of my work. :) The graphic work can speak for itself, yes, but some things are bound to get lost in translation. And the words can also help to strengthen the meaning. Besides, fonts are in themselves an art, which is why I'm very picky about what I cut out of magazines.
