I find it's worth the effort to take the container to the toilet to dump it. No lingering smells from the sink drain.

Since I am the only person in my household and the only one who cleans, I often procrastinate about washing dishes. When little flies start collecting on the walls and hovering over the plates, I know it's time. Stacking bowls is a favourite gambit. They stack nicely except that when it comes time to actually separate them for cleaning, there is stuff which has been rotting in that space between each bowl. The smell is truly ... well, I see you've experienced it.

I know washing dishes as soon as I've finished the meal is the quickest and easiest way to prevent smells and dirty dishes piling up. But ... yeah.

Next time: Put them in the FREEZER, not the sink. And then make a pass through on garbage day and throw the solid frozen contents directly into the trash.

They'll stop getting worse, and they'll smell way less bad when your throw them out.

Apart from that: What resonant said about dumping large amounts of gross liquid into the toilet, not the sink.
