Maybe this is a Dad thing. This sounds a lot like conversations I have with my father over AIM. :)

You're probably right. This is just one of many, many conversations we've had on IM that follow roughly the same plot. Often I forget that my dad is in his 70s and, although he does well with technology, still struggles a little.
