ATTN: Long-haired Ladies and Germs

This is a note for you. I admire you, I really do. I honestly don't know how you do it, how you put up with your long hair day in and day out and keep it looking nice all the time.

I am still growing mine out for charity and it frustrates me daily. It seems like it's always tangled and rough and never looks nice ( Read more... )

Oh how I feel your pain. I think my hair will be cut in the next month. As you can see here my hair has gotten quite long:

I tend to do 1 of 2 things when i sleep which makes all the difference:

1) Put my hair in 2 braids, Dorothy style.
2) Put it in a very loose bun on top of my head.

I find both of these things keep my hair less knotty when I sleep, therefore less tugging on it and getting it in bad shape in the morning.

I *love* that picture of you, lookin' good babe!!

I tried the bun thing last night, and I think that might work for me. Sometimes I wear 2 braids, Dorothy style during the day/evening (as in this user icon). That is actually kind of a dressed-up look for me, ha!

Frustrated cause you're short 2 inches? I have a couple of spams I can forward you.

Wait.

i'm growing my hair out too (not for charity though)... what a pain!

anyway, when i had hair down to my butt lo these many many years ago, i basically just shampooed and conditioned daily, let it air dry, no product. trimmed split ends once in a while. worked like a champ.

oh, hand lotion works really well on frizz. it mimics your scalp/skin oils (that's what lotion IS, right?), and so is better than any of those silicone leave-in conditioner products. i absolutely use a small bit of hand lotion when i have frizz.

I just put it up and get it out of my way every day. Plus all that stuff you do. I think what annoys me is that I don't take more time to practice what I would need to do to make it look "nice". It's just up until I have a formal event.

See, I spend all that time on it and then end up putting it up in a ponytail or braids or something anyways! It's just not worth it.

The few times I do manage to make it look nice and wear it down, everyone asks me if I got my hair cut or colored or something. Nope!

Yup, ditto. *sigh* No, I just got up a half hour early today on accident!
