Thanks to everyone who commented on my engagement post, and to those who called, wrote, IM'd, or sent me an sms to congratulate me (and Will) on our engagement. I did not have a chance to reply to everyone personally as I was just overwhelmed by the outpouring of good wishes

Speaking as someone who has an unusually (probably unhealthy) amount of experience with the word, I have to say that the word "fiancé" sucks. I didn't really think much of it, even from the start. I'm just talking about the word. I don't like saying it, so i go for alternatives.

hah, yeah. I still call my fiance my girlfriend occasionally, and we've been engaged for months.

Did you ever see that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine had an annoying friend who kept referring to her fiance in a loud, ostentatious way? I think part of me is worried that's what I'm going to sound like!
